How to Clean and Maintain Your Vape Tank

A clean vape device is the easiest and simplest way to enjoy a superior quality vaping experience. Regular vape juice typically does not stain your equipment, but the residue buildup over time affects the performance. Some thick and sweetened e-liquids with high vegetable glycerine (VG) content are generally responsible for the gunk buildup in vape tanks. It will impact the flavour delivery and lead to a burnt taste and an unpleasant vaping experience.

No matter whether your vape device is new or old, keeping the vape tank clean is the key to enjoying vaping. If you know the right steps and technique, cleaning the vape tank is a piece of cake. Let's discuss how to clean your vape tank and how it can enhance your overall vaping experience.

Why Cleaning Your Vape Tank Is Important?

First, we need to look at what happens to your vape system if you don't clean it regularly or properly. Without cleaning your vape tank, switching between different vape juices will not allow you to experience the maximum taste of flavour. You will keep tasting the old vape juice flavour if you don't clean out the vape tank thoroughly. Plus, the burnt taste and the dry hits will ruin your overall vaping experience.

If you continuously vape your e-liquid before refilling the vape tank, it will clog up the tank. The vape juice can become sticky, leading to residue buildup in the tank. The excessive gunk buildup can even cause your vape device to go on fire. Cleaning your vape tank regularly will prevent you from experiencing a nasty taste. Regular cleaning will ensure you enjoy each puff to the maximum satisfaction.

How To Clean Your Vape Tank

For optimal flavour delivery and best performance, cleaning your vape tank is essential. Here are some quick and easy steps to clean your vape tank in the best way possible.

Remove The Tank

Detach the vape tank from your device to begin the cleaning process.

Remove Old E-Liquid

Make sure to remove any leftover vape juice from the tank.

Remove The Coil

Also, remove the coil from the vape device.

Place The Tank In Warm Water

Let the vape tank soak in the warm water for a few minutes. You can even add drops of dishwashing liquid if the residue buildup is stubborn.

Thoroughly Rinse & Dry Your Vape Tank

Always use warm water to thoroughly cleanse all the gunk, then let it air dry. Make sure your vape tank is rinsed properly before you allow it to dry.

Reassemble Your Kit

You can use a piece of cotton or a clean, soft cloth on your vape tank to remove the traces of any leftover water. The excess moisture can be hazardous and can even shorten the lifespan of device components.

Common Vape Tank Problems

Even if you maintain your vape tank, some problems can still occur, which is natural. Let's take a look at some common problems and how to deal with them.

Burnt Or Unpleasant Taste

You might experience a burnt taste or tasteless e-liquid sometimes. It can happen due to overheating of the coil or when the coils accumulate gunk due to residue buildup. Also, if you don't allow the coil to fully saturate the wick with vape juice, start vaping immediately. To fix these issues, always allow the wick to fully absorb e-liquid. Plus, check the coil to see if it's covered with residue, there might be a need to clean or replace the vape tank altogether.

Leaking Vape Tank

Leaks can occur if you overfill or overtighten the vape tank into the device. To deal with this issue, make sure you don't overfill the tank and tighten it firmly but not too tightly. Another reason behind the leakage could be due to the use of the wrong vape juice, or if your e-liquid is too thin. Try using higher VG or a balanced 50VG/50PG e-liquid. Moreover, check your O-rings if your vape tank has them.

Flooding Vape Tank

If you fill too many vape tanks, it can lead to overflowing. Be careful while filling the vape tanks with e-liquids. Most devices come with the recommended e-liquid levels to avoid overfilling the vape tanks. When too much e-liquid is drawn into the coil, it can cause a gurgling sound or an off-putting flavour. To deal with this problem, remove any excess juice from the coil, or you can also adjust the wattage for better flavour and vapour production.

Bonus Tips

  • Always try to clean your vape tank with warm water to ensure proper cleaning.

  • Regular or weekly cleaning will prevent the gunk buildup, making your job easier.

  • If your vape tank develops a thick crust of leftover vape juice, consider buying a new tank.

  • Prefer to clean your vape tank with warm water instead of alcohol.

  • It is recommended to always clean the vape tank each time you change e-liquids.
